About Furefure Grammar

Furefure Grammar is a reading-first way to explore natural Japanese example sentences. Browse the index, search by grammar point, filter by difficulty, or use Shuffle when you just want to keep reading. Grammar details are there when you want them, without turning the experience into a quiz or study streak.

Data source

Grammar metadata comes from the NINJAL Japanese Grammar Pattern Database, dataset version 2026.01. The example sentences in this build are reviewed learner-facing corpus entries connected to those grammar senses.

The bundled corpus does not include separate license or usage-terms wording, so this page only states the attribution available in the project data.

English grammar explanations

The current corpus includes an English explanation for every grammar sense. These explain the grammar point itself; they are not sentence-by-sentence English translations. The original Japanese explanation is shown alongside the English explanation when available.
